When is the RSVP deadline?
Please respond with your RSVP no later than November 16, 2026. Once invitations are sent, we invite you to RSVP online through our website, or by mailing in the RSVP card sent with your invitation. If you need to modify your RSVP, please contact us.
What time should I arrive at the wedding ceremony?
The doors to the venue will open one hour ahead of our ceremony start time of 4:30 p.m., and there is plenty to see and experience at the venue! We recommend arriving at the ceremony venue at least 30 minutes ahead of the ceremony start time to ensure you have enough time to walk to the ceremony space, check your coat, and find a seat. Shuttles will be provided from the room block hotel beginning at 3:15 p.m. We ask that when you RSVP, if you want to utilize the shuttle service, you reserve a shuttle departure time.
What is the dress code?
The bride and groom encourage black tie attire--full length dresses for the ladies, tuxedos or dark suits for the gentlemen.
Can I bring a plus one?
Due to strict space limitations for the ceremony, only those formally named on your invitation are invited. Thank you for understanding.
Are children invited to attend?
We love your kids—we really do. However, this is an adult only occasion. We appreciate your understanding!
What's the best airport to use?
Richmond International Airport is closest to the wedding venue. The hotel will be easily accessible from Richmond International Airport via taxi or rideshare.
Are there accommodations near the venue or hotel room blocks?
We've reserved a room block at the Hilton Hotel and Spa Short Pump. Please book your stay by December 15, 2026 to reserve a room in our block. Use the code 90M online or mention the Whitlow-Brei wedding while booking to receive our reduced rate.
If you miss the deadline to reserve a room in our block, or if the block is full, reach out to the hotel and mention our wedding anyway—they may be able to accommodate you with our discount in a room outside of our block. If not, you can find additional nearby accommodations on our travel page.
Is there parking available near the wedding venue?
For guests within driving distance of the venue, there is free on-site parking that's about a two-minute walk to the venue.
Will there be shuttle transportation to the venue from the hotel?
Yes! We ask that if you are staying at the wedding hotel and would like to take the shuttle to the venue, when you RSVP for the wedding, you also choose a shuttle departure time. There will be limited seats available on each shuttle, so we ask that once you choose a departure time, you board the correct shuttle on time on the wedding day.
What will the weather be like during the wedding?
If this year is any indication, you might want to prepare for snow! The wedding and reception will take place indoors; however, please prepare for cold temperatures upon entry and exit, and during travel to and from the venue. The venue provides a coat check option upon arrival, with self-service retrieval at the end of the event.
Are pictures allowed during the wedding?
Our ceremony will be "unplugged." We ask that you be present with us during the ceremony and leave phones in pockets. After the ceremony, photos and videos are fair game, and we highly encourage you to share any photos with us through the shared photo album you will be able to access on the day!
What type of food will be served at the wedding?
We'll be serving hors d'oeuvres at cocktail hour, followed by a sit-down dinner with a choice of entrée. Please provide your dinner choice with your RSVP. Dinner will be followed by an over-the-top wedding cake for dessert!
Can dietary restrictions be accommodated during dinner?
For the most part, yes! When you RSVP and choose your dinner option, please note any allergies you may have so we may share with the catering staff to determine the best way to make sure you are well-fed.
Should I bring cash for the bar?
Cash will only be needed should you wish to tip the bartenders.
Where will wedding updates be posted?
Additional updates or changes that need your attention will appear on our wedding website home page.
Where did the name "Short Pump" come from?
The original village of Short Pump was located at the intersection of Three Chopt Road (formerly known as Three Notched Trail), Richmond Turnpike and Pouncey Tract Road. The area first centered around a local tavern that was expanded by Col. Robert H. Saunders beginning in 1814. Here, under the rickety old double porch of the rambling frame structure was a short handled water pump for stagecoach horses to drink from. In the days when the tavern was a stage coach stop between Richmond and Charlottesville, the drivers would often say, “I’ll see you at Short Pump.” Thus originated the name by which the area is now known.
